Karla Brannen, Tax Manager

At ARB, we’re people first.

To me, it’s clear that the partners care about us as people. They ask about our personal lives and give us the ability to balance work with our lives outside of the office. Even during the busiest time of year, the team is approachable and willing to take a few minutes to explain something or help with questions. Leadership promotes a relaxed atmosphere, while remaining highly engaged in what’s going on with their employees’ lives.

The power of teamwork.

I love ARB’s strong team environment. Whether working in tax or audit, we work with both our peers and our leaders. As a member of the tax team, I work with accountants that have a variety of expertise. Not only do we collaborate on a day-to-day basis, we also create and present an annual Tax Season Kick-Off meeting. I also look to the tax team for support and feedback. It’s great to have the support of a team, as well as the internal resources and input for my own professional development. ARB truly balances feedback well. I feel I get the appropriate amount of guidance, mixed with the appropriate amount of trust.

Opportunity, opportunity.

At ARB, you’ll have the opportunity to do both audit and tax work. You’ll also learn about a variety of different industries and experience challenging and rewarding teamwork. Those are huge assets for anyone serious about building a career in public accounting. I really enjoy the interaction with the clients, getting to know the people and their stories. ARB allows me to take the lead and build my own client base, and I am trusted to fulfill my responsibilities.

Living and working in Maine.

Being in Maine is great. The Old Port area is very convenient. It is centrally located and it’s great for networking opportunities.
